Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chailian Ganmao Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for the treatment of wind-heat type common cold and acute upper respiratory tract infections. Developed and manufactured by companies such as Wuhan Shuanglong Pharmaceutical, the granules are a combination of several herbal extracts, including *Bupleurum chinense* (Chaihu), *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin), and *Forsythia suspensa* (Lianqiao). Its mechanism of action involves antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties, aimed at clearing heat and detoxifying the body (Jie Biao Qing Re, Xie Huo Jie Du). Pharmacologically, it works by inhibiting inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 (via COX-2 inhibition) and reducing the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-6. It is indicated for symptoms including fever, headache, sore throat, and cough associated with wind-heat syndrome.
