Overview
Chaishi Tuire granules (CSTRG) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine widely used in China for the treatment of respiratory infections, particularly influenza. It is a multi-herb formulation composed of ten traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, including *Lonicera japonica* Thunb, *Rheum officinale*, *Bupleuri Radix*, *Isatis indigotica*, *Forsythia suspensa*, *Artemisia annua*, *Anemarrhena asphodeloides*, *Taraxacum* (Dandelion), *Scutellaria baicalensis*, and Gypsum Fibrosum. CSTRG exerts its therapeutic effects primarily through anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms, specifically by inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-6 via the modulation of the TRAF6/MAPK14 signaling pathway. It is clinically evaluated in Phase 4 trials for the treatment of adult influenza, demonstrating efficacy in fever resolution and symptom improvement comparable to oseltamivir.
