Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chakasaponin I is an oleanane-type triterpene saponin isolated from the flowers of the tea plant (*Camellia sinensis*). It has demonstrated anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities in preclinical models, specifically against cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells such as OVCAR-3. The compound induces apoptosis via the intrinsic pathway, characterized by the dose-dependent activation of pro-apoptotic proteins Bad and Bax. As a major constituent of tea flower saponins (TFS), it is being investigated for its potential as a natural anticancer agent.
