Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHALKCAP-835 is an approved oral calcium supplement containing 835 mg of calcium carbonate (equivalent to 334 mg of elemental calcium), developed and marketed by Charoon Bhesaj Thailand. It functions as a small molecule mineral supplement and phosphate binder. In the gastrointestinal tract, calcium carbonate reacts with dietary phosphate to form insoluble calcium phosphate, which is excreted in the feces, thereby reducing serum phosphate levels in patients with chronic renal failure. Additionally, it serves as a direct source of calcium to maintain calcium homeostasis and treat deficiency states such as hypocalcemia, osteoporosis, rickets, and osteomalacia. It is also indicated for use as an antacid and as a supplement for pregnant, lactating, or postmenopausal women.
