Chamaecyparis obtusa leaf extract, derived from the Japanese cypress (Hinoki), is a botanical ingredient containing bioactive compounds such as flavonoids (amentoflavone, ginkgetin), terpenes, and phytoncides. It is primarily utilized in cosmetic and topical formulations for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. Research indicates that the extract may inhibit STAT3 and JAK/STAT signaling pathways, suggesting potential therapeutic applications in inflammatory skin conditions and certain cancers, including breast and colorectal cancer.
