Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chamomile liposomal gel is an investigational topical botanical formulation consisting of *Matricaria chamomilla* (chamomile) extract encapsulated within a liposomal delivery system. Developed and studied primarily by researchers at the University of Brasília, the formulation is designed to enhance the skin permeation and local accumulation of chamomile's active constituents, such as apigenin and chamazulene. It is being investigated for the prevention and management of radiation dermatitis (radiodermatitis) in patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer or head and neck cancer. The gel leverages the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of chamomile to mitigate skin damage induced by ionizing radiation.
