Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Changan Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine University Yuanchuang Technology Co., Ltd. specifically for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). The formula is derived from the classical TCM prescription "Tongxie Yaofang," which has been modified to better address the pathophysiology of IBS-D, including abdominal pain and frequent loose stools. Its mechanism of action is multi-targeted, involving the reduction of visceral hypersensitivity, modulation of the brain-gut axis, and regulation of intestinal permeability and gut microbiota. Clinical studies have indicated that Changan Granules can significantly improve the IBS-D Symptom Severity Score (IBS-SSS) and patient quality of life by inhibiting mast cell activation and regulating serotonin (5-HT) levels in the colonic mucosa.
