Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Changma Xifeng Tablets (CMXF) are a proprietary polyherbal traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) developed by Jiren Pharmaceutical for the treatment of pediatric Tourette syndrome and tic disorders. The formulation is composed of five herbal ingredients: Paeoniae Radix Alba, Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, Gastrodiae Rhizoma, Margaritifera Concha, and Polygalae Radix. While its precise molecular mechanism of action remains undefined, preclinical studies suggest that CMXF exerts therapeutic effects by restoring neurotransmitter balance (increasing serotonin and decreasing dopamine and norepinephrine), reducing neuroinflammation (lowering IL-1beta and IL-6), and modulating dopaminergic signaling pathways (downregulating DRD1 and DRD2 expression while upregulating COMT and MAO-B expression). In clinical trials, CMXF has demonstrated comparable efficacy to tiapride in pediatric patients with tic disorders.
