Overview

CHANK-201 is an allogeneic, off-the-shelf natural killer (NK) cell therapy derived from umbilical cord blood (UCB). Developed by Chankana Biotech, the product consists of expanded and activated NK cells designed to treat advanced solid tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma. As an allogeneic therapy, CHANK-201 does not require HLA matching, which minimizes the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and allows for a standardized, scalable manufacturing process. The therapy leverages the innate ability of NK cells to recognize and eliminate malignant cells through the activation of surface receptors such as NKG2D and natural cytotoxicity receptors (NCRs), leading to the release of cytotoxic granules containing perforin and granzymes. CHANK-201 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety and preliminary anti-tumor activity in patients with various solid malignancies.
