Chanye Anshen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Zhuhai Xingguang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of insomnia. It is primarily composed of herbal ingredients including Cicada Slough (Periostracum Cicadae), Ziziphus jujuba (Suan Zao Ren), and Polygala tenuifolia (Yuan Zhi). The drug is designed to address sleep disorders by nourishing the heart and calming the spirit (An Shen), specifically targeting symptoms such as difficulty falling asleep, restlessness, and dream-disturbed sleep. Pharmacologically, its active components, such as jujubosides and saponins, are believed to interact with the GABAergic system in the central nervous system, exerting sedative and anxiolytic effects. It is approved and marketed in China as a granule formulation for oral administration.
