CHAR-II T cells

CHAR-II T cells are engineered T cells designed to express Chimeric HLA Antibody Receptors (CHARs) that specifically target HLA class II molecules. This cell therapy aims to provide a targeted therapeutic strategy for anti-HLA class II desensitization or treatment of antibody-mediated rejection in transplantation settings. By expressing extracellular domains of HLA-DQ or -DR molecules coupled with 4-1BBζ/CD3ζ domains, these T cells are activated by and exert cytotoxic potential against B cells expressing HLA-II-specific B cell receptors, leading to the selective depletion of HLA-specific B cells and, consequently, alloantibodies.
