Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Check-O-Tox is a multi-ingredient veterinary toxin binder and feed additive designed to protect poultry and other livestock from the harmful effects of mycotoxins. The formulation consists of hydrated sodium calcium aluminum silicate (HSCAS), mannan oligosaccharides (MOS), oxine copper, and a synergistic blend of organic acids (propionic, benzoic, acetic, and sorbic acids). HSCAS and MOS physically bind and sequester mycotoxins within the gastrointestinal tract, preventing their absorption and protecting the intestinal mucosa. Oxine copper acts as a fungicide to inhibit fungal growth, while the organic acids control pathogenic bacteria. Originally developed by Ranbaxy's animal health division (Vetnex), the product's ownership transitioned through Pfizer and Zoetis before being acquired by Zydus Animal Health, and subsequently Zenex Animal Health. It is also manufactured and distributed regionally by Navana Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh.
