This is a combination therapy that integrates standard chemotherapy with adoptive cell transfer of dendritic cell (DC)-activated cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells. The approach aims to enhance anti-tumor immune responses by combining the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy with the targeted immune activation provided by autologous DCs and CIK cells. Dendritic cells are antigen-presenting cells that process and present tumor antigens, while CIK cells are a heterogeneous population of T and NK-like lymphocytes expanded ex vivo using cytokines such as IL-2, IL-1, and IFN-γ. When combined, these therapies synergistically improve tumor recognition, cytotoxicity against cancer cells, and overall clinical outcomes in various solid tumors including colorectal cancer (CRC) and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)[2][3][6].
