Overview

CHF1035 is a small molecule dual agonist of the dopamine D2 receptor and the alpha-2 adrenergic receptor. Developed by Chiesi Farmaceutici, it is a racemic mixture of the enantiomers CHF1800 (+) and CHF1810 (-). The compound and its metabolite, CHF1024, have demonstrated significant and prolonged intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effects in preclinical rabbit models, suggesting potential utility in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Its duration of action appears superior to brimonidine in animal studies, without the contralateral eye effects observed with some other ocular hypotensives.
