CHF6001 + erythromycin is a combination of two pharmacologically distinct drugs: - **CHF6001** (also known as tanimilast) is a potent, selective, inhaled phosphodiesterase type 4 (PDE4) inhibitor under development primarily for respiratory inflammatory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, suppressing virus-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine production by inhibiting PDE4 activity in bronchial epithelial cells[1][3][4]. - **Erythromycin** is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections and has additional prokinetic properties due to agonist activity at the motilin receptor. Its primary mechanism is inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, thus blocking translocation and protein elongation[2][5][7].
