CHGN111 is a small molecule inhibitor of the mitochondrial enzyme CLK-1 (demethoxyubiquinone hydroxylase), developed by Chronogen. The drug's mechanism involves altering mitochondrial function through inhibition of CLK-1, leading to decreased ROS levels and systemic oxidative stress. Its primary clinical development focused on the prevention of cutaneous phototoxicity induced by photodynamic therapy (PDT), with additional potential applications in cardiovascular, metabolic, neurodegenerative diseases, and neoplasms[1][2][3][4].
