Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chhinnavahni Kashaya Vati is a classical Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation primarily indicated for the management of Prameha (Diabetes Mellitus) and its associated metabolic complications. The formulation is prepared as a concentrated decoction (Kashaya) of two primary herbal ingredients: Tinospora cordifolia (known as Chhinna or Guduchi) and Plumbago zeylanica (known as Vahni or Chitraka), which is then processed into a tablet (Vati) form for standardized dosing. Tinospora cordifolia is highly valued in Ayurvedic medicine for its 'Rasayana' (rejuvenative) and 'Pramehahara' (anti-diabetic) properties, acting through the modulation of insulin secretion and glucose metabolism. Plumbago zeylanica serves as a potent 'Deepana' (digestive stimulant) and 'Pachana' (carminative), helping to clear metabolic toxins (Ama) and improve cellular metabolism. Clinically, the formulation is used to maintain glycemic control, reduce insulin resistance, and provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits in chronic metabolic conditions.
