Overview

CHI-902 is a standardized cannabidiol (CBD) oil formulation developed by Canopy Growth Corporation for the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). It consists of a cannabis-derived CBD extract dissolved in a medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil vehicle for oral administration. The drug's therapeutic potential in anxiety is thought to be mediated through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system, specifically by modulating cannabinoid receptors and inhibiting the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), as well as acting as an agonist at the 5-HT1A serotonin receptor. CHI-902 has been evaluated in a Phase IIb randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to determine its efficacy in reducing anxiety symptoms and its effect on peripheral endocannabinoid levels.
