CAHAG is a multi-drug combination chemotherapy regimen investigated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML). It is characterized as a 'double epigenetic regimen' because it combines two epigenetic modulators—chidamide (a selective histone deacetylase inhibitor) and azacitidine (a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor)—with the HAG cytotoxic backbone. The HAG backbone consists of homoharringtonine, aclarubicin, cytarabine (Ara-C), and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). This combination aims to overcome drug resistance in AML by synergistically targeting epigenetic dysregulation and inducing apoptosis in leukemic cells.
