Overview

The chimeric anti-CEA antibody conjugated with DyLight 488 is a research-stage fluorescent imaging probe designed for the detection of tumors overexpressing carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). It consists of a chimeric (mouse-human) monoclonal antibody covalently linked to DyLight 488, a green-fluorescent dye with excitation and emission peaks at approximately 493 nm and 518 nm, respectively. Developed for fluorescence-guided surgery and tumor imaging, the conjugate has been evaluated in preclinical orthotopic mouse models of pancreatic cancer. While it effectively labels CEA-positive neoplastic tissue, its utility in deep-tissue imaging is limited by the relatively poor tissue penetration of the 488 nm wavelength compared to longer-wavelength fluorophores, typically requiring superficial tumor locations for optimal detection.
