The chimeric anti-CEA antibody conjugated with DyLight 650 is a preclinical research imaging agent designed for fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) and tumor delineation. It consists of a chimeric mouse-human monoclonal antibody targeting carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), a glycoprotein overexpressed in various epithelial malignancies, covalently linked to DyLight 650, a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye. This conjugate enables high-contrast, high-resolution imaging of tumors, particularly in pancreatic and colorectal cancer models, allowing for the identification of tumor margins and small metastases that may be missed under standard white-light inspection. Research has been primarily conducted by investigators at the University of California San Diego in collaboration with entities such as OncoFluor and AntiCancer, Inc. The agent has demonstrated superior tissue penetration and tumor-to-background contrast in orthotopic mouse models compared to other fluorophore conjugates.
