Chimeric antigen receptor T cells targeting CD19 and CD22 is an autologous dual-targeted CAR-T cell therapy developed by the Fundacion Para La Investigacion Biomedica Del Hospital Universitario La Paz. The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T cells to express a chimeric receptor that simultaneously recognizes CD19 and CD22, two proteins commonly found on the surface of malignant B cells. This bispecific approach is intended to mitigate the risk of antigen escape, a common cause of relapse where cancer cells lose expression of a single target (typically CD19) to evade the immune system. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and other B-cell malignancies in both pediatric and adult populations.
