The chimeric protein-based meningococcal B vaccine is an investigational quadrivalent biologic being developed by the Serum Institute of India (SIIPL) in collaboration with the University of Oxford. The vaccine is composed of four chimeric proteins that combine two key immunodominant surface proteins of *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B: factor H binding protein (fHbp) and Porin A (PorA). In this design, fHbp serves as a scaffold into which short immunogenic loops of PorA are inserted. Developed by Professor Christoph Tang's team at the University of Oxford, the vaccine aims to provide broader protection and improved safety compared to currently licensed Men-B vaccines. As of April 2024, the project is in the preclinical stage following a technology licensing agreement between Oxford University Innovation and SIIPL.
