ChimeriVax is a vaccine platform and series of live-attenuated, recombinant vaccines developed using the ChimeriVax technology. This technology utilizes the yellow fever virus (YF) 17D vaccine strain as a vector to deliver the envelope genes (prM and E) of other flaviviruses such as Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) or West Nile virus (WNV). The resulting vaccines are live, attenuated viral constructs that express protective antigens from target flaviviruses while retaining the safety profile of YF 17D. ChimeriVax-JE is indicated for prevention of Japanese encephalitis and has demonstrated high immunogenicity and durable protection in both adults and children. ChimeriVax-WN02 targets West Nile virus infection and has shown strong immunogenicity in clinical trials. The primary mechanism is induction of neutralizing antibodies against the envelope proteins of target flaviviruses through presentation by a live-attenuated viral vector[1][2][3][4].
