ChimeriVax-WN02 is a live, attenuated recombinant vaccine developed for the prevention of West Nile virus infection. It is constructed using the yellow fever 17D vaccine strain as a backbone, with the premembrane (prM) and envelope (E) genes of West Nile virus inserted in place of those from yellow fever. This chimeric approach allows the vaccine to induce strong immune responses against West Nile virus while retaining the established safety profile of the yellow fever 17D platform. Clinical studies have shown that ChimeriVax-WN02 elicits robust neutralizing antibody and T cell responses in healthy adults across age groups, with a favorable safety profile. The primary indication is prevention of West Nile virus infection[1][3][6].
