The Chinese Academy of Sciences H1N1 split-virion vaccine is an inactivated influenza vaccine candidate developed to prevent infection by the H1N1 subtype of Influenza A virus, specifically targeting the 2009 swine-origin strain (S-OIV). The vaccine is produced by inactivating the virus and subsequently using detergents to disrupt (split) the virion, a process designed to reduce reactogenicity while maintaining immunogenicity. It is administered via intramuscular injection and aims to elicit a robust immune response, including the production of hemagglutination-inhibiting (HAI) antibodies against the viral hemagglutinin protein and the activation of T-cell mediated cellular immunity, as measured by interferon-gamma ELISPOT and tetramer staining.
