Chinese medicine prescription (Wangjing Hospital)

This is a specific Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed at Wangjing Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, for the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG). The prescription is a complex mixture of 18 herbs, including *Pinellia ternata*, *Scutellaria baicalensis*, *Coptis chinensis*, and *Astragalus membranaceus*. It is designed to address the histological changes associated with CAG, such as glandular atrophy and intestinal metaplasia. The formulation likely works through multi-target mechanisms, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and mucosal protective effects, as well as potentially modulating the gastric microbiota. It was evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT02955134) comparing its efficacy against placebo and standard care (hydrotalcite) in patients aged 40-65 years with pathologically confirmed CAG.
