Overview
ChiNing decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital for the treatment of radiation-induced oral mucositis (radiation stomatitis) in patients with head and neck cancer. It is a multi-component botanical formulation composed of nine herbal ingredients: Rhubarb, Licorice, Mint, Scutellaria, Radix Liriopes, Red peony root, Lumbricus, Radix Scrophulariae, and Forsythia. The decoction is a modified version of the classical TCM formula Liangge San. In clinical evaluations, it has been compared against recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) spray to assess its efficacy in reducing the severity and duration of oral mucosal injury during radiotherapy.
