Chios mastic is a natural resin obtained from the *Pistacia lentiscus* var. Chia tree, which is cultivated exclusively on the Greek island of Chios. Recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as a traditional herbal medicinal product, it contains a complex mixture of over 120 chemical compounds, including a natural polymer (poly-beta-myrcene), acidic and neutral triterpenes, and various volatile secondary metabolites. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of mild dyspeptic disorders and the healing of minor skin wounds and inflammation. Chios mastic exhibits significant anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, with notable activity against *Helicobacter pylori*. It is widely available as a dietary supplement and is being investigated for its potential benefits in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), metabolic syndrome, and oral health.
