Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHIR-98023 is a potent, selective, and reversible small molecule inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3), targeting both GSK3α and GSK3β isoforms with IC50 values of 10 nM and 6.7 nM respectively[1][3]. It has been studied primarily in preclinical models for its effects on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. In animal studies, oral administration of CHIR-98023 improved insulin sensitivity and increased liver glycogen synthesis in insulin-resistant rats[5]. The compound is used as a research tool to investigate the role of GSK3 in metabolic diseases such as diabetes.
