Overview

This combination therapy consists of a 3D porous chitosan scaffold and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA), specifically the fast-setting EndoCem Zr formulation. It is designed for use as a pulpotomy agent in mature permanent teeth affected by irreversible pulpitis. Chitosan, a biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharide derived from chitin, serves as a scaffold to support cellular attachment and tissue regeneration within the pulp chamber. MTA is a bioactive bioceramic material that releases calcium ions and creates an alkaline environment, promoting the formation of a mineralized dentinal bridge and providing a bacterial-tight seal. The combination aims to maintain tooth vitality and promote pulp healing as an alternative to conventional root canal treatment.
