Chitosan-encapsulated Gloriosa superba tuber nanoparticles (CEGSTNs) are an experimental nano-formulation consisting of an extract from the tuber of the medicinal plant *Gloriosa superba* encapsulated within a chitosan polymer matrix. Developed primarily for the treatment of cervical cancer, CEGSTNs exert their anticancer effects by downregulating the expression of the Spindle and kinetochore-associated complex subunit 3 (SKA3). This downregulation leads to the inactivation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which subsequently inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. Preclinical studies in HeLa cell lines and Wistar rat models have demonstrated significant efficacy and a favorable safety profile, with no observed acute toxicity or adverse effects on hematological or biochemical parameters.
