Overview

Chloride valine-naphthoquinone (4b) is a synthetic small molecule naphthoquinone amino acid derivative investigated for its potential antitumorigenic activity, particularly against cervical cancer. Synthesized using microwave-assisted methods, the compound incorporates a valine moiety and a chlorine atom into a 1,4-naphthoquinone scaffold. Its mechanism of action is primarily attributed to its redox-active properties, which facilitate the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lead to cytotoxicity in tumorigenic cell lines. In preclinical studies, compound 4b demonstrated significant antiproliferative effects against both HPV-positive (SiHa, CaLo) and HPV-negative (C33-A) cervical cancer cells, often showing potency superior to conventional agents like paclitaxel in specific cellular contexts.
