Overview

**Chlorin e6-curcumin conjugate 17** is a covalent small-molecule chlorin e6 and curcumin conjugate developed as an experimental photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy of pancreatic cancer. In pancreatic cancer cell-line studies, light-activated compound 17 produced potent cytotoxicity in AsPC-1, MIA PaCa-2, and PANC-1 cells, with reported half-maximal inhibitory concentrations of 40 nM, 35 nM, and 41 nM, respectively, and high dark-to-phototoxicity ratios. Its photodynamic activity is associated with singlet-oxygen generation and apoptotic signaling, including increased BAX, cytochrome c, and cleaved caspase-9 expression and reduced B-cell lymphoma 2 expression. It is a publication-described preclinical research candidate with no identified clinical development program, manufacturer, or marketed product.
