Overview

Cryogesic Spray is a fast-acting topical vapo-coolant containing chloroethane (ethyl chloride) as its active ingredient. It functions as a cryoanalgesic by rapidly evaporating upon application to the skin, which induces immediate cooling and desensitizes peripheral sensory nerve endings. This process produces a transient local analgesic effect lasting approximately 30–45 seconds. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of pain associated with injections and minor invasive procedures, such as arterial puncture, as well as for the temporary relief of minor sports injuries (sprains, strains, bruises) and deep muscle pain when used in conjunction with stretching techniques. The product is manufactured by Acorus Therapeutics and has been evaluated in clinical settings, including emergency department trials comparing its efficacy against injectable anesthetics like lignocaine.
