Overview

Chloroguiamine is a small molecule antiepileptic drug candidate developed by the Beijing Bolivikon Pharmaceutical Research Institute. It is a synthetic derivative of cinnamamide, a chemical scaffold derived from the active components of *Piper nigrum* (black pepper), which has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine for the treatment of seizures. Chloroguiamine is designed to modulate neuronal excitability and has demonstrated anticonvulsant activity in preclinical models. It has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers, specifically for the potential treatment of epilepsy.
