chloroprocaine hydrochloride

AMP-100, now known by the brand name Iheezo, is a preservative-free, topical ophthalmic gel formulation of chloroprocaine hydrochloride, an ester-type local anesthetic. Developed by Sintetica and licensed to Harrow Health for the U.S. and Canadian markets, it was approved by the FDA in September 2022 for ocular surface anesthesia. The drug is intended for use during various ophthalmic procedures, such as cataract surgery and intravitreal injections, providing rapid-onset anesthesia. Its approval marked the first time chloroprocaine was authorized for ophthalmic use in the United States, offering a clinical alternative to traditional topical anesthetics like lidocaine or tetracaine.
