Arinquine is an antimalarial medication containing chloroquine phosphate, developed and marketed by KCC Pharmaceuticals. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of malaria caused by susceptible strains of Plasmodium parasites. Formulated as a syrup, it is particularly intended for pediatric populations. Chloroquine acts by concentrating in the parasite's acidic food vacuole and inhibiting the polymerization of toxic heme into non-toxic hemozoin, leading to parasite death through oxidative damage. Beyond its antimalarial properties, chloroquine is also utilized in the management of extraintestinal amebiasis and certain autoimmune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
