Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fepacold is an oral fixed-dose combination medication developed and marketed by TCF Pharmaceuticals for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, influenza, and upper respiratory allergies. It is formulated in multiple oral dosage forms, including drops, suspension, and tablets. The product contains three active ingredients: paracetamol (acetaminophen), a mild analgesic and antipyretic; phenylephrine, a sympathomimetic nasal decongestant; and chlorphenamine (chlorpheniramine), a first-generation antihistamine. Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Phenylephrine acts as an agonist on alpha-1 adrenergic receptors to constrict blood vessels in the nasal passages, thereby reducing swelling and congestion. Chlorphenamine blocks histamine H1 receptors to alleviate allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.
