Overview

Chlorphenamine maleate is a first-generation alkylamine antihistamine that acts as a potent H1 receptor antagonist. It works by competitively blocking histamine H1 receptor sites on effector cells in the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels, and respiratory tract, thereby alleviating symptoms of allergic reactions. This injectable formulation, developed by Shanghai Hefeng Pharmaceutical, is primarily indicated for the rapid relief of severe allergic conditions such as urticaria, angioedema, and allergic reactions to blood or plasma. As a first-generation antihistamine, it is known to cross the blood-brain barrier, which can lead to sedative effects.
