Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zincold is a fixed-dose combination medication developed by Med Manor Organics, primarily used to provide temporary relief from symptoms associated with the common cold, flu, allergic rhinitis, and seasonal allergies. It contains three active ingredients: paracetamol (an analgesic and antipyretic), phenylephrine hydrochloride (a nasal decongestant), and chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine). Paracetamol works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system to reduce fever and alleviate mild-to-moderate pain. Phenylephrine acts as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist, constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages to relieve congestion. Chlorpheniramine maleate is a first-generation histamine H1 receptor antagonist that blocks the action of endogenous histamine, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Zincold is available in various pediatric and adult formulations, including tablets, syrups, and oral drops.
