Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination drug containing three active ingredients: - **Chlorpheniramine maleate** is a first-generation antihistamine that acts as a histamine H1 receptor antagonist, reducing symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes associated with allergies and the common cold[1][6][10]. - **dl-Methylephedrine hydrochloride** is a sympathomimetic agent with bronchodilator and mild stimulant properties. It works primarily by stimulating beta-adrenergic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle to relieve bronchospasm and reduce cough[2][5]. - **Glycyrrhizin** (the active component of licorice root) has anti-inflammatory properties and can help soothe throat irritation by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages and throat[9]. The combination is used for symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract conditions such as allergic rhinitis, common cold, coughs, sore throat, nasal congestion, sneezing, phlegm production, fever, headache, joint pain or muscle pain. It is typically available over-the-counter (OTC) in some countries for adults and children above certain ages[2][5].
