Chlorthalidone + losartan is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used primarily for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, promoting diuresis and reducing blood volume. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively antagonizes the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone-mediated sodium retention. Together, these agents lower blood pressure more effectively than either alone, reduce cardiovascular risk (including stroke), and help protect kidney function in patients with diabetes or impaired renal function[1][3][5]. The combination is available as oral tablets.
