Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tronac-MR is an oral fixed-dose combination tablet containing the skeletal muscle relaxant chlorzoxazone, the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac potassium, and the analgesic/antipyretic paracetamol (acetaminophen). Developed by Thrift Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the treatment of pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as sprains, strains, and muscle stiffness. Chlorzoxazone acts centrally on the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain to inhibit muscle spasms. Diclofenac potassium works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis to alleviate pain and inflammation. Paracetamol provides additional analgesic and antipyretic effects, likely through central prostaglandin synthesis inhibition.
