Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CHM-273S is a novel milk-derived peptide candidate developed by Lactocore for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and prediabetes. Identified from milk protein hydrolysate, CHM-273S acts as a regulator of free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFAR2, also known as GPR43). In preclinical rodent models of diet-induced obesity and metabolic syndrome, chronic administration of CHM-273S (either intranasally or intraperitoneally) significantly reduced blood glucose levels, normalized insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), decreased body weight and visceral fat, and reduced systemic inflammation by lowering serum TNF-alpha levels. It also upregulates IRS2 expression and induces leptin signaling via STAT3 phosphorylation in the hypothalamus, demonstrating a central anorexigenic effect.
