Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination dietary supplement containing three active ingredients: - **Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3):** A fat-soluble vitamin essential for calcium and phosphate homeostasis, bone health, and immune modulation. It acts primarily by binding to the vitamin D receptor (VDR), regulating gene expression involved in mineral metabolism and immune function. - **Curcumin:** The principal bioactive compound in turmeric (Curcuma longa), known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and potential anticancer properties. Curcumin modulates multiple molecular targets including inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-6), transcription factors such as NF-κB, COX-2 pathway signaling, and various cell signaling pathways. - **Piperine:** An alkaloid from black pepper (Piper nigrum) that enhances the bioavailability of curcumin by inhibiting hepatic and intestinal glucuronidation. Piperine also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects through inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The combination is designed to leverage synergistic effects—piperine increases the absorption of curcumin up to 2000%, while both compounds have complementary anti-inflammatory actions. Cholecalciferol adds immunomodulatory benefits. Clinical studies suggest this combination may reduce disease activity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients[1][2], improve inflammatory markers[1], reduce upper respiratory symptoms[3], and potentially benefit metabolic parameters when used as adjunctive therapy.
