cholecalciferol + xenograft is a combination therapy being investigated for its potential to reduce crestal bone loss and enhance stability in immediate dental implants. The treatment involves the topical application of a cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) solution mixed with a xenograft bone substitute into the "jumping gap"—the space between the implant surface and the extraction socket wall. Cholecalciferol is a secosteroid that acts as an agonist at the Vitamin D receptor (VDR), which is essential for bone metabolism, osteoblast differentiation, and mineralization. The xenograft component provides an osteoconductive scaffold that supports new bone formation. By combining the biochemical signaling of Vitamin D with the structural support of a xenograft, this intervention aims to improve clinical and radiographic outcomes in mandibular implant procedures. This specific application is being developed and studied by Suez Canal University.
