Overview

Cholesterol-PIE12-trimer (CPT31) is a potent D-peptide HIV entry inhibitor designed to target the highly conserved gp41 N-peptide pocket region of the HIV envelope protein. By binding this critical site, CPT31 prevents membrane fusion between the virus and host cell, thereby blocking HIV from infecting cells. The drug exhibits strong inhibitory activity against diverse panels of primary HIV isolates and has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical models for both prevention and treatment of HIV infection. As a D-peptide, CPT31 is resistant to degradation in the body and less likely to provoke immune reactions compared to traditional peptide drugs, making it suitable for long-acting injectable formulations. Navigen developed CPT31, which is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as a promising candidate for both prevention and treatment of HIV infection[1][2][3][4][6].
