The compound consists of orthosilicic acid stabilized by choline to prevent polymerization, thereby ensuring optimal absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Its biological mechanism involves the stimulation of collagen type I synthesis in osteoblast-like cells and skin fibroblasts, as well as the modulation of cartilage degradation biomarkers such as C-terminal telopeptide of type II collagen (CTX-II) and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP). Clinical research has evaluated ch-OSA for symptomatic relief in knee osteoarthritis, where it has shown gender-specific efficacy in improving physical function and reducing stiffness in men, as well as for its potential benefits in osteopenia and peri-implantitis.
