Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CholZero is a dietary supplement formulated to support cardiovascular health by maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Its primary active profile consists of a complex of plant sterols (phytosterols), including beta-sitosterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol. These compounds are structurally analogous to cholesterol and function by competitively inhibiting the absorption of both dietary and biliary cholesterol within the small intestine. By displacing cholesterol from mixed micelles in the intestinal lumen, plant sterols reduce the amount of cholesterol that enters the bloodstream, subsequently lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels. CholZero is typically used as a non-pharmacological adjunct to a heart-healthy diet for individuals managing hypercholesterolemia.
